Howe Sound House
Gambier Island, British Columbia
Atop a steep hillside and nestled within fir trees the challenging building location required transport of materials to the site by barge. The cedar and glass home overlooks the Howe Sound and its wide open living spaces share views with the kitchen, dining room, and loft. Lift and slide doors create a seamless flow between inside spaces and the outdoor areas. The main roof channels rainwater to one location where it spills from a scupper, creating a water spectacle during the frequent rainfalls.
