Canadian Materials, Canadian Labor
Turkel Design can make the modern home you envision a reality.
Our Story
Turkel Design’s signature process combines design excellence with precision prefabrication to ensure predictability of cost, timeline, and quality. The results can be seen in more than 300 homes designed for locations worldwide.
Cofounders Joel and Meelena Turkel established their practice to fulfill the dream of making beautiful, high-quality architecture available to clients no matter where they live. They both grew up in Canada before meeting at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Their design language, which is marked by warm, natural materials and a focus on indoor/outdoor living, is inspired by their admiration for wood and the beauty of Canadian summers. This influence can be seen in award-winning projects like the Lake Muskoka Boathouse (below).

Predictability of Cost, Timeline, and Quality
We use a panelized and componentized off-site fabrication method, where the focus is not only on efficiency and predictability, but on high-quality design and execution using Canadian materials. This process enables the realization of your vision, and results in durable and regionally appropriate architecture.
