Turkel Design is an acclaimed designer of custom, modern, systems-built homes. Our practice was established with the goal of making inspirational, high-quality homes available to clients anywhere.

Cofounded in 2008 by Joel and Meelena Turkel—with master’s degrees in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where Joel subsequently held a faculty position—our firm has completed more than 300 projects throughout North America and beyond. With Managing Partner Jake Wright, we have developed and refined a signature process that combines design excellence with precision, shop-built fabrication to predictably deliver meaningful architecture. Our designers and technicians, based in studios in Boston and Southern California, work with clients wherever they are.
